The title chosen for this project is not entirely coincidental. Indeed, we have taken the name of a bar-restaurant located in Paris, where the menus are written in French sign language (LSF) and the operators who work there, mostly deaf, using LSF. E 'thus arose the idea to reproduce that model in the real Venice. Coffee-Signs is organized by the Deaf Youth Club Venice, the cooperative Aquaaltra and the course of Italian Sign Language (LIS) University Ca 'Foscari of Venice.
The idea is to promote a day of meeting with the Italian deaf community, who despite being so close to us, is so little known. The occasion of this event will introduce the LIS and the deaf community not only academically, but also in society in the Venice area.
E 'for this reason that on January 23 next to the Frari Theatre from 18.00-Signs Coffee opens, because we are sure that after the event there will be a greater awareness, knowledge, curiosity about the Deaf community. In
programma della serata una cena, e nel menù non saranno scritte le solite parole ma delle foto e dei segni. I camerieri, madre-lingua LIS e non, dialogheranno con i clienti esclusivamente in LIS! E tra una portata e l’altra vi sarà in scena l’attore sordo Gabriele Caia con uno spettacolo di poesie e cabaret in LIS e molto altro!
